- Welcome to my blog - where I can share my personal life and my photography! I am married to the most wonderful man and I have an amazing little boy who lights up my every moment. I have always loved taking pictures but over the past few years it has really become a more serious passion. I think one of the most fun things about taking someone's picture is being able to CAPTURE that particular moment in time so that it can be held onto forever! I prefer natural light, on location photography that allows people to just be themselves. If you are interested in contacting me regarding photography please send me an email to holly@simplycapturedphotographybyhollybenfield.com Oh yeah, and I'd love to hear what you think ... so feel free to leave comments at the end of my blog posts. God Bless!!

Bean Family
I met up with one of my favorite families this afternoon at Lewis Farm. In a couple of weeks Collin will turn two so we took this opportunity to capture this special stage in life. It was super cold but Brian, Holly, and Collin were troopers. Thank you guys for allowing me to once again capture your beautiful family!!

... thankful ...
Rock the Shot Forum, a forum for photographers of which I'm a member, has monthly photo contests. I have never entered ... until now. The theme for this month's contest is "Thankful".
Being thankful is something I try to be mindful of every day. To thank God for the many blessings he has given is a daily task but I know I could never thank Him enough for all that he has given. Photography in general is something I am so very thankful of because it has fulfilled the need for a creative outlet and it has provided a tool to grow as a person. To capture another's family or a special moment in time puts a smile on my face.
One of my greatest blessings, of which I am eternally thankful, is my baby boy Wyatt. He is such a bundle of absolute joy and he truly lights up my life. This picture I have chosen may not be the most creative or the most technically sound but it represents a lot to be thankful for. First, it is my baby just being my baby. Second, Wyatt is wearing my Daddy's outfit from when he was a boy. My grandmother loaned it to me and asked that I get Wyatt's portrait in it since she had one of my Daddy wearing the outfit. I am so thankful for family memories and connections and for the gift of preserving those memories that photography gives. Third, this day was the FIRST time Wyatt had slept in his big boy toddler bed! Now, to truly understand why I am thankful for this third reason you must know that Wyatt never slept in his crib and always slept right between his Daddy and myself so for him to sleep alone in his big boy bed was quite a feat.
I wish all of you a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving ... May you take the time to truly appreciate all of God's wonderful gifts!
Now ... enough talking ... here is the picture that represents my thankfulness!

Newborn Allie: 8 days new
I was all prepared ... I had all of my baskets, blankets, and props in tow ... ready to tackle the task of capturing this sweet and beautiful newborn. I would mold her into the perfect newborn poses and perfectly position her in every basket I could find. Oh, I had such grand plans for my second ever newborn portrait shoot. Allie, on the other hand, had different plans. She wanted to be cuddled and held, not stripped naked and laid in a basket by an unfamiliar photographer. She wanted her mommy to feed her and her daddy to rock her. She just wanted to be a typical newborn. And I don't blame her at all ... If I were her I would have cried too! With a bit of patience, Allie turned into quite the little model and the session really started to blossom. She is truly a beautiful newborn and I enjoyed spending the afternoon with her and her sweet family. Here is your sneak peek - I hope you like them so far.
